Anxiety feels like your brain is playing every channel at once. When stress is loud, the last thing you need is a complex routine – you need small, concrete moves that actually settle your nervous system.
1. Land in your body
Your mind follows your body. Press both feet into the floor, roll back your shoulders, and take one long, slow exhale – longer than the inhale. A slow exhale is a direct signal to your nervous system that you are safe.
2. Name what you are feeling
Saying “I am anxious right now” – even silently – engages the thinking part of your brain and turns the volume down on the alarm part.
You cannot stop every wave of worry. You can learn which shore to stand on while it passes.
3. Shrink the worry
Ask: “Is this a problem I can act on today?” If yes, take one small step. If no, write it down and schedule a worry window later – and let it live there instead of in your chest.
4. Do something boring
Wash the dishes without a podcast. Fold clothes. Walk the same familiar route. Boring activities give your overworked mind a rest.
5. Talk to someone safe
The most underrated anxiety tool is a human being. If worry is starting to shape your days, online counselling can help you build a longer-term plan – one calm conversation at a time.
